This week, United Cerebral Palsy lost our treasured Director of Development, Diane Dietrich. Diane fought a courageous battle with cancer. She was working on UCP’s Casual Day 2014 in the days just prior to her death. Casual Day is a fundraising event Diane had coordinated for the past twenty years, having raised over $800,000 with this event alone.
Diane loved United Cerebral Palsy, and she was equally loved by the families we serve. Hers was the first smiling face greeting visitors to the office.
According to UCP Executive Director Deana Claiborne, “Diane had a way of making the things around her grow and flourish. Whether it was the plants she tended in her garden, or the young people she took under her wing, they were all bettered by her touch. The best way to honor Diane is to continue her efforts to advance opportunities for people with disabilities.”
Among her many talents, Diane was a gifted artist. Her watercolors are featured in many of UCP’s Casual Day and Holiday Card designs. Click here for the obituary and visitation information.
